Portuguese league champions Benfica have revealed its latest piece of training technology, with the unveiling of a new technological training room after what the club describes as ‘years of development’.

The simulator is designed to analyse and improve player reaction times, while also collecting data on players which is able to aid and prevent injury recovery in the long-term.

While the state-of-the-art training tool looks more like something out of a FIFA video game, 360s isn’t the first of its kind to be used by a major European side.

Two years ago the then German champions Borussia Dortmund revealed their innovative ‘Footbonaut’ system, while fellow Bundesliga side Hoffenheim also launched a similar system in March.

Benfica’s latest software, which interacts with database and older records, can record data such as passed in a game, direction of a pass, position of the ball – all of which can be recreated in the simulator.
