US middle-distance runner Boris Berian has signed a personal endorsement deal with New Balance, following Nike dropping its lawsuit against him.

Nike had been sponsoring the Olympic hopeful, with the brand ending its association with him and filing a lawsuit against him when he appeared to compete in New Balance kit.

New Balance reportedly made a $405,000, three-year offer to Berian to end his deal with Nike, but Nike argued it matched the offer as stated in his contract.

However, Nike has since withdrawn the lawsuit claiming it did not want to distract the athlete ahead of his US trials for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, where he will look to compete in the 800m.

No financial details of Berian’s new deal with New Balance have been disclosed.
