Betfair has extended its partnership with snooker, after agreeing a new deal to become the new title sponsor of the 2013 Masters, with the invitation event set to become the Betfair Masters, taking over from American financial services company BGC Partners.
Snooker’s most prestigious invitation event features 16 of the world’s leading players, and will run from 13th to 20th January at Alexandra Palace in London.
Betfair is currently the title sponsor of the Shoot-Out and the German Masters events, alongside its status as the tour sponsor of the European Tour.
Betfair’s head of UK sports brand marketing Andy Lulham said: ‘We are delighted to add The Masters to our World Snooker sponsorship portfolio. It’s exciting to be involved in one of the most prestigious invitation events and it’s a great way to enhance our brand’s position in the sport.’
World Snooker chairman Barry Hearn added: ‘It’s a great pleasure to welcome on board Betfair for our biggest and best invitation event. We are already working with them on a range of tournaments so we know what a professional team they are and how much they value the outstanding global exposure they get from snooker. The Masters is such a wonderful event, with only the elite players invited to compete for the famous trophy.’
Australia’s Neil Robertson (pictured) defeated Shaun Murphy 10-6 in last year’s final to claim the Masters title.
