Betfred has extended its title sponsorship of the World Matchplay and Women’s World Matchplay darts tournaments in partnership with the PDC until at least 2030.
The betting company has held naming rights to the World Matchplay since 2019, with the Women’s World Matchplay added under its sponsorship in 2022. The 2025 Women’s World Matchplay, scheduled for Sunday 27th July, will be the fourth edition, with Beau Greaves returning to defend her title.
Prize funds for both events are set to increase from 2026. The World Matchplay will offer a total of £1 million, including £225,000 for the winner, while the Women’s World Matchplay will rise to £40,000.
PDC Chief Executive, Matt Porter, said, “Betfred have become synonymous with the World Matchplay since joining us as title sponsor in 2019, and it’s wonderful that they’ve extended that support for a further five years. Their backing of the Betfred Women’s World Matchplay echoes their commitment to the sport, and we’re excited that prize money for both events will increase from 2026.”
Fred Done, founder of Betfred, added, “We’re delighted to extend our sponsorship with the PDC for another five years, during an exciting period for darts as a sport. The quality of the field has never been stronger, and we can only see these tournaments continuing to grow.”
The 2025 tournament sold out in record time following increased public interest after the success of the 2024 edition.
The partnership extension continues during a period of growth for professional darts, with expanding viewership, rising prize funds, and increased commercial investment across both men’s and women’s events.
