streetfootballworld and Beyond Sport, two of the leading global organisations in the field of sport for social change, will bring their global event Beyond Soccer – held in Cape Town (2011) and London (2012) – to Philadelphia in September as part of the Beyond Sport Summit & Awards 2013.

Beyond Soccer – powered by streetfootballworld – is a full-day event focused on the unique role the world’s most popular sport can play in driving social change that will be held at PPL Park, home of Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union.

Nick Sakiewicz, CEO and Operating Partner of the Philadelphia Union said of hosting the event:  ‘At the core of our values is that soccer is a catalyst for social responsibility. We are excited to welcome like-minded people from around the world to our world-class facility to share best practices in this area.’

Philadelphia Union will join other key stakeholders from influential organisations in the soccer and social change world from a range of sectors and regions across the globe, including NASL Commissioner Bill Peterson, Grassroot Soccer co-founder Ethan Zohn, CONCACAF, and the US Soccer Foundation.

Backed by Major League Soccer, the Barclays Premier League and supported by adidas, the event will be held on 8th September, the day before the Beyond Sport Summit officially opens at a number of key venues across Philadelphia and will address, examine and amplify the positive social effects that football can have around the globe.

Jürgen Griesbeck, the founder and CEO of streetfootballworld, commented: ‘Over the past two years this event has produced some fantastic collaborations and outcomes and we look forward to seeing the new partnerships that develop from Beyond Soccer 2013, as we believe there is huge potential in the USA. streetfootballworld is delighted to be working with Beyond Sport again in Philadelphia.’

Nick Keller, the founder of Beyond Sport, added: streetfootballworld’s network is unmatched in the world of soccer, and we are delighted that those member organizations will once again come together for Beyond Soccer and explore the incredible work done in this sport across the globe.’
