England’s opening Diamond League meeting in 2011 has been moved from Gateshead to Birmingham, athletics governing body the IAAF has announced.

This year’s inaugural Diamond League featured races in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and the United States.

In 2011 there will still be 14 events across those continents but on 10th July the series will move to the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham.

There are 32 individual events in each of the 14 meetings in the current format, 16 for men and 16 for women, with points awarded at each to give an overall winner in every discipline.
