Blackburn Rovers will not renew its shirt sponsorship deal with Bet24 when it
expires at the end of the 2007/08 season and has appointed sports marketing
agency the Bonham Group Europe to find a new commercial partner.
According to the club the decision, which it is thought has been prompted by
the increasing restrictions placed on gambling brands’ advertising
opportunities, has been made due to a desire to find a more ‘appropriate’ shirt
sponsor.
The Bonham Group Europe, whose clients include Arsenal, O2 and the Scottish
FA, has also been tasked with finding a raft of second-tier sponsorship partners
for Blackburn.
The search for new partners will include a global as well as national remit
talking to brands from a number of different industries and nationalities.
Blackburn has launched a number of innovative marketing initiatives to tackle
the issue of improving attendances and the club was the first to announce
detailed price ticket reductions for the forthcoming season, slashing the
average cost of an adult season ticket by 25%.
