FIFA president Sepp Blatter has admitted to a Swiss newspaper that his take home
salary for 2006 topped the $1m mark.
In an interview with the ‘Sonntags Zeitung’ newspaper, Blatter revealed his
pay cheque for the first time during his presidential tenure but defended the
seven-figure sum by stating that it was ‘appropriate’.
‘That is appropriate for an executive president. FIFA has a great value, not
only in financial terms,’ he stated.
In the interview Blatter also voiced his fears at the growing financial gap
between the top clubs and those more smaller ones.
Sepp Blatter will be the subject of the 2007 Sport Industry
Interview, taking place at Bloomberg Studios on 28th February.
