In a unique partnership deal that is the first of its kind in Olympic sport, The British Olympic Association has joined forces with its American counterpart USOC in a groundbreaking agreement to collaborate ahead of the London 2012 Games and Sochi 2014 Winter Games.
The cross-Atlantic deal sees the two associations combine to share expertise and discuss issues of mutual interest in planning for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The associations will also combine in a bid to help young athletes through the ranks and develop the wider Olympic movement.
A vital part of the deal will see the BOA and USOC relaunch a British governing body for skiing and snowboarding after the collapse of Snowsport GB a week before the Vancouver Games.
The deal will see the associations offer ‘coaching and technical exchanges, winter sport training camps and other high performance programmes.’
The agreement was signed this week in San Francisco by BOA chairman Lord Moynihan and United States Olympic Committee chairman Larry Probst.
