Jamaican athletes, including Olympic and World Champion Usain Bolt, will use Birmingham as a base for training ahead of the London 2012 Games.
It is expected that the team will train at Birmingham University after the Jamaican Amateur Athletics Association (JAAA) found the city’s facilities impressive.
Birmingham City Council Leader Mike Whitby announced that a series of events that involve the Jamaican team – including Bolt, who just recently smashed his own world record in the 200m — will take place in the lead up to 2012.
