Middlesbrough fans going to games at the Riverside next season will see some new technology this season, with a new 360° digital pitch perimeter LED system.
Working alongside digital venue specialists ADI, the system will integrate a crowd-facing digital display – which the club claims to be a world first in sport – capable of serving live match stats and social media content.
The platform will integrate with the club’s stadium screen and a network of 70 new displays, which will deliver exclusive programming, unique StatZone content, social media, news, and video content to fans throughout the Riverside.
Content across every digital channel will be powered by Live Venue, ADI’s high speed fibre network, which connects the Riverside Stadium to the company’s Preston-based sports production hub.
Speaking of the development, Middlesbrough FC’s chief operating officer, Mark Ellis, said: “As a club we constantly look to improve and innovate with the fans at heart. Having worked with ADI we know first-hand that they deliver a top- quality product and are leaders in their field.
“We think Boro fans will welcome this addition to matchdays, but there is also a big opportunity for businesses to become involved. We look forward to working with all interested parties.”
ADI’s, chief executive, Geraint Williams commented: “We’re delighted to be working with Middlesbrough to enhance matchdays for Boro fans. The club has always shown great vision and it’s exciting that, through innovation, we can work together for the fans and create opportunities that deliver real commercial value.
“We’re investing in a long-term relationship with Middlesbrough, through which we’ll share our expertise – delivering cutting-edge stadium technology to create an engaging experience that delivers real value for the club, its fans and commercial partners.”
The club plan to use the new display at the Riverside Stadium for the Leeds United game on Sunday 27th September.
