Irish rugby international Brian O’Driscoll has teamed up with web entrepreneur, Ray Nolan, to create ‘Ultimate Rugby’, an interactive website and smartphone app for fans and rugby players.

The free app, available on itunes, allows fans to interact with each other as well as with players. It will also provide live match commentary on competitions such as the Aviva Premiership, RaboDirect12, The Heineken Cup, The RBS 6 Nations – plus previews, match reviews, videos and competitions.

Ryan Nolan, co-founder of Ultimate Rugby said: ‘We wanted to create the ultimate resource for the fan, but also the player, to access on the go the information they wanted. However, we saw very quickly that this could be used by players to centralise and manage their own professional profiles. We have seen a very positive reaction by fans, players and even sporting agents to Ultimate Rugby.’

‘From the player perspective, you have to balance, sporting, professional and, increasingly, celebrity profiles on and off the pitch,’ said Brian O’Driscoll, co-founder. ‘Rugby is a social game; Ultimate Rugby helps people get to know the players better through their twitter feeds, allows them chat about the match as it progresses, and even helps them with travel to matches and ticket availability.’
