Brit Insurance is to replace Vodafone as the England cricket team’s primary sponsor after agreeing a new four-year deal with the England and Wales Cricket Board beginning in January 2010.
As part of the agreement, believed to be worth in the region of £4m a year, the Brit Insurance logo will feature on all playing and training apparel worn by the England Men’s and Women’s Cricket Teams as well as the England Lions and England Disability Teams.
Brit Insurance will also receive a comprehensive range of sponsorship assets that includes advertising in grounds (perimeter / tri-visions / big screen / programme ads), team image rights and access to members of all England cricket teams for commercial and marketing usage.
The deal with Brit Insurance marks a major boost for the ECB following the decision of long-standing commercial partner Vodafone not to renew its 12-year association after the end of its current contract which expires at the turn of the year.
Brit Insurance already has a foothold in cricket through its naming rights deal for The Oval and sponsorship of Sky Sports’ coverage of the sport.
