British Athletics has confirmed a three-year sponsorship deal with Strathmore water to provide bottled water at all British Athletics events through to 2019.
The new contract follows a year-long partnership and will see Strathmore drinks stations at all British Athletics events, both indoor and outdoor, throughout the next three years helping to keep athletes hydrated and fuelled during competition and warm-up. Bottled water will also be provided for spectators, staff and volunteers at all events.
It follows the announcement that Strathmore Water will be the national supplier of bottled water for both the IAAF World Championships London 2017 and the World Para Athletics Championships.
Niels de Vos, chief executive of UK Athletics, said: “This represents another excellent sponsorship deal for the sport. Keeping all our athletes well hydrated is crucial to them achieving their performance potential. This year promises to be huge with the two World Championships along with the Diamond League and London Anniversary Games all giving Strathmore a great platform for their business. Securing major sponsors such as Strathmore demonstrates ongoing confidence in our ability to stage great events that engage the public.”
Adrian Troy, marketing director for AG Barr, said: “We’re delighted to have strengthened our relationship with British Athletics as part of this major sponsorship deal which represents our ongoing investment and commitment to all levels of sport.
“Strathmore water has a proud association with helping our sporting heroes to stay hydrated and perform to their best ability, and we’re looking forward to being able to play our part in delivering a series of world-class events for spectators.”
The first event within the new contract will be the 2017 British Athletics Indoor Team Trials in Sheffield this weekend, where athletes will be looking to secure places on the British Athletics team for the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade in March.
