The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) has suspended boxing in January due to the rise in coronavirus cases.
It has confirmed that those bouts which come under their jurisdiction would not take place because of the stress the rise in cases places on the NHS.
Much of England has been placed into new Tier 4 restrictions, while Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales have also come under tighter measures to control the spread of the virus.
The BBBofC has also said that a further review of the situation will take place later in January.
The move will see fights such as the title fight between Lee McGregor and Karim Guerfi postponed.
On Twitter, Eddie Hearn, Managing Director, Matchroom Sport, said: “Boxing for us will now re-start early Feb.
“Hopefully that will be in the U.K. but we will proceed regardless, safely and by any means necessary. To the fighters out there..stay ready!”
