British Lions Appoint Travel Operators
The British & Irish Lions rugby team have appointed four official licensed travel and hospitality operators for the tour to South Africa in 2009.
England Rugby Travel, Gullivers Sports Travel, Sportsworld, and Thomas Cook Sport have secured the official contracts with the tour organisers, Lions Tour Limited, looking to clamp down on any firm operating without a licence.
The four operators were appointed after a competitive tender process and will be able to sell official ticket-inclusive travel and/or hospitality packages from the beginning of January 2008.
The British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa takes place in June and July 2009.
Lions Tour Limited was appointed to exclusively manage the official licensed operator programme for the 2009 Lions tour to South Africa, recommending for appointment a network of specialist travel and hospitality agents and managing the tickets allocated to the travel and hospitality programme for all of the provincial fixtures and the three test matches.
