British Wheelchair Basketball has appointed Promote PR ahead of a summer of sport that includes the Continental Clash in Sheffield, from 2nd to 6th July and the World Championships in Hamburg in August.

The brief for the sports PR agency – whose current clients include the likes of the RFU, England Hockey, Premiership Rugby and British Rowing – includes growing the audience for the sport, attracting new participants and raising the profile of the GB men and women’s teams’ journey to the 2018 World Championships this summer.

Commenting on the appointment, Lisa Pearce, CEO at British Wheelchair Basketball, said: “This is an exciting new partnership for British Wheelchair Basketball. It is essential that we partner with an agency such as Promote PR that is immersed in sports for our journey to Tokyo 2020. Promote’s whole team understand the challenges and opportunities for NGBs and national teams.”

Sue Anstiss MBE, Promote’s CEO, added: “We’re delighted to be working with Britain’s largest Paralympic team sport. The executive team’s passion for their sport is absolutely infectious. We can’t wait to meet the players, watch more games and start to spread the word about wheelchair basketball.”

The team head into the World Championships in excellent form, winning the recent Lyon Wheelchair Basketball Competition without losing a game. Next up is the Continental Clash held in Sheffield this July, before the squad fly out to the World Championships in August, as the squad continues its journey to the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.
