Hardys, the official wine of England cricket, has taken England fast bowler Stuart Broad back to his roots as he helped the wine brand kick off an initiative that will see it champion those who are the heartbeat of their local cricket club.

Each month this summer, Hardys will feature someone who is a driving force of their local club in the Cricketer Magazine and reward them for their unstinting work with a selection of Hardys wine. This activity will culminate at the end of the 2016 season with the overall ‘Heartbeat of the Club, supported by Hardys’, being announced by Stuart Broad at the NatWest OSCAs.

Egerton Park CC in Melton Mowbray, Stuart Broad’s first cricket club, hosted the launch of Hardys’ Heartbeat of the Club initiative. Hardys reunited Broad with David Glover – his former captain in the 2nd XI and the club’s chairman and driving force – and both will feature in a grassroots ATL campaign, as well as in content to be released throughout the summer.

The summer of 2016 will be the third year of Hardys’ partnership with England Cricket.

Stuart Broad, Hardys ambassador and England fast-bowler, said: “I’m delighted to be helping Hardys launch their search for the heartbeats of local cricket clubs. Having begun my cricket journey at Egerton Park CC I know first-hand the role grassroots club play in our game, and, in particular, the value of people like David Glover, who is the driving force of the club.”

Amy White, Hardys Wine marketing director, added: “After two successful years as a proud sponsor of English cricket Hardys knows how fundamental the grassroots game is to the sport in this country.  This year, we are very excited to be championing and rewarding those that go above and beyond for their local team and we look forward to reading all the nominations from clubs up and down the country.”
