Broadcasters have announced details of their Premier League coverage for when the competition returns behind closed doors from 17th June.

Sky Sports, BT Sport, Amazon Prime, and the BBC will screen live matches, all of which will be broadcast somewhere in the UK when the league comes back to screens.

Sky and BT, who between them will broadcast the lion’s share of the action, have both announced options for fans to watch with fake crowd noises, as well as ‘watch together’ features complete with private chat rooms.

In partnership with EA SPORTS, Sky says it will provide bespoke and team-specific crowd noises as well as chants, allowing viewers the choice to watch with or without the additional sounds.

Meanwhile, the broadcaster has also announced its ‘Fanzone’ feature, which will allow multiple people to watch together in a private video room where they can chat as well as influence the crowd noise they hear on screen and join with in-match polls.

Sky Sports Managing Director Rob Webster said: “With live sport on hold for over two months, we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about how we broadcast in new ways to bring fans together, even if they can’t meet up to watch the match.

“Sky has always been a leader in innovative sports broadcasting, and we’re excited by this opportunity to share something really special with the whole nation. We want Sky Sports viewers to still feel it all and have the best possible viewing experience – even if they can’t be in the stadiums or watch with their family and friends.”

BT Sport, meanwhile, will present viewers with similar features through its BT Sport App where fans will be able to watch, see and chat with friends in a split screen, while the match is being played.

Simon Green, head of BT Sport said “We are pleased that the Premier League resumption will give viewers a packed schedule of live football in June as the sport makes its return. We are looking forward to broadcasting live domestic football again and bringing some new innovations to our customers to give them the best viewing experience possible.”

The BBC, meanwhile, which will broadcast live Premier League football on its TV channels for the first time, will also air a minimum of seven live games per week on its radio station 5 Live, while talkSPORT will air back to back Saturday games and says it will include ‘manager touchline audio’ in order to bring the sound of the games to life on the radio.
