The 2016 European Athletics Championships has announced a new partnership with Brooks Running Company, who becomes the exclusive footwear and apparel sponsor for the 23rd European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam next summer.

The performance running company relocated its European headquarters to Amsterdam earlier this year, based in the Olympic stadium where the majority of the European Athletics Championships will take place.

Scott Otte, marketing director EMEA, said: “When the opportunity arose to become the exclusive partner of the European Athletics Championships Amsterdam 2016, we were immediately interested. Especially because next year the championships will be in our very own back garden!

“Everyone at the Brooks Running team is very excited to have been awarded the sponsorship contract for such a large and major sporting event in Europe. As a performance brand, dedicated purely to running, we are very proud to kit out all volunteers and officials with exclusive running product and bring added value to the event.”

According to the brand, located in 60 countries around the world, raising brand awareness among European runners remains a principle focus for the company.

David Bohan, president of Brooks Running EMEA, added: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to grow the Brooks Running brand in Europe and bring our ‘Run Happy’ spirit to this event.

“We aim to be the No. 1 choice for runners in Europe and indeed worldwide.”

In addition to sponsoring the championships, Brooks Running will also host the Brooks 10K Champions Run – which is being especially designed for the occasion. The quarter marathon is expected to attract 25,000 recreational runners to Amsterdam and will conclude the week long sporting event.
