IMG’s acquisition spree shows no signs of abating after it was revealed that the
global sports network has acquired BSI Speedway, the agency which holds the
commercial rights for the motorcycling series.

The acquisition of BSI Speedway transfers the promoting rights of the FIM
World Individual Speedway Grand Prix Series (SGP) and FIM Speedway World Cup
(SWC) from BSI Speedway to IMG.

The existing BSI Speedway management team – including current chief
executive, John Postlethwaite, and managing director, Paul Bellamy – will take
up their new roles at IMG with immediate effect.

The deal, for an undisclosed sum, follows hot in the footsteps of IMG’s
purchase of sports marketing events and consultancy firm Quintus Group last
week.

The addition of BSI Speedway bolsters IMG’s motorsports offering which
already includes global races such as the Lexmark Indy 300, Clipsal 500 and
Sandown 500 races in Australia.

The FIM Speedway Grand Prix Series and FIM Speedway World Cup have been under
BSI’s management for the last seven years with 50,000 spectators turning up to
last season’s British Grand Prix at the Millennium Stadium.
