BT and London Sport will host Sport 2.0, an event at British House in Rio de Janeiro. 100% Sport, a global campaign supported by BT to encourage a more sustainable and environmentally aware world, will be at the heart of an afternoon of debate during the 2016 Olympic Games.

Joining the event will be panellists as well as guest Michael Johnson, multi-Olympic gold medallist and founder of the Michael Johnson Foundation. This year saw the launch of Michael Johnson Young Leaders, a programme supporting the sustainable development of talented young people who have overcome adversity to lead in their community through sport.

Alongside Johnson, other speakers include Alex Ingles, head of wholesale LatAm, BT; Mano Silva, COO and co-founder, love futbol; Ana Moser, Olympic gold medallist for Brazil & founder, Instituto Esporte e Educação; and Jen Regan, global sport and sustainability advisor.

Sport 2.0 starts with two panel sessions, the first discusses sport and data and the second will provide an analysis of the current sport and sustainability landscape and sport’s potential to help speed and scale actions.

Niall Dunne, BT, chief sustainability officer said: “BT is delighted to be hosting this event in partnership with London Sport. All eyes will be on Rio for the next eight weeks so it is the perfect time and location to be discussing how technology can help people to be more physically active, healthier and happier, and create a more sustainable world at the same time.”

“BT is committed to helping our customers live and work more sustainably and has spearheaded the 100% Sport campaign since launching it with Sir Ben Ainslie in 2015. We are urging sports fans to think and act sustainably on a local level and share how they will #go100percent to make a better world.”

Peter Fitzboydon, chief executive, London Sport said: “Society faces global challenges; sport has the power to present a truly global solution. I am excited that London Sport and BT have come together to deliver this event and look forward to sharing a vision of a more sustainable world through sport.

“London Sport is determined to help make London the most active city in the world. We will take lessons learned in London to help create a blueprint for how physical activity and sport can have a positive impact on society’s health, happiness and prosperity.”

Michael Johnson is inviting people to submit questions on how sport can help society and the environment by posting questions on Twitter and including #go100percent and @mjgold.
