As part of the deal, the two parties will collaborate on ‘100% Sport’ – which is also seeing a half-day event dedicated to the initiative on Day Two of the Beyond Sport Summit 2015 – on a global drive to encourage sport fans to battle against climate change.
The initiative aims to provide a unifying voice to individual sports fans, athletes like Sir Ben Ainslie, sports teams and clubs as well as partners to create a global movement to make using 100% renewable energy the new normal.
Ainslie, the most successful Olympic sailor of all time, has championed sustainable sport since setting up his own British America’s Cup team, Land Rover BAR in 2014, after winning sports’ oldest international trophy as part of an American team.
The new agreement will see BT provide data experts to Land Rover BAR to aid the team’s pit-lane style data analysis systems, to assist in the 2017 America’s Cup in Bermuda.
Ben Ainslie said: “It’s fantastic to be working with another great British technology brand. Not only will they help provide technology to help bring the Cup home, they will also help us to take our message of sustainable sport to a much wider audience.”
