BT Sport has announced three MotoGP riders who will be used as ambassadors to promote the sport during the channel’s coverage of the motorcycling series.
Cal Crutchlow, Bradley Smith and Scott Redding will feature in BT Sport’s MotoGP marketing and programming after the channel signed a deal to become the exclusive UK broadcaster of the series for five years from 2014.
British rider Crutchlow, who finished seventh at his home Grand Prix this weekend, said of the announcement: ‘It’s exciting to be involved with BT Sport and I am looking forward to contributing to the programmes next season. I hope that I can bring some real insight from a rider’s point of view.’
Scott Redding added: ‘I’m very happy to be involved with BT Sport and to be part of a fantastic MotoGP line-up from the start.’
The deal was announced ahead of the weekend’s MotoGP championship race at Silverstone, won by Jorge Lorenzo. The World champion ended Marc Marquez’s winning streak to take victory after a classic last lap at the British Grand Prix, which saw the lead swapped three times in the last few corners.
