BT Sport has been announced, as expected, as the UK broadcaster for June’s inaugural European Games.

According to a statement from Baku 2015 organisers, BT Sport will broadcast daily coverage across its three broadcast channels, BT Sport Extra service and digital platforms.

Simon Clegg, the British chief operating officer of Baku 2015, said: “The fit between BT Sport and the European Games is perfect.

“BT Sport have burst onto the British broadcasting scene, and Baku 2015 is the most significant event to join the European sporting calendar in half a century.”

The European Games joins live Premier League football, the FA Cup, WTA tennis, Premiership and European club rugby and MotoGP on the BT Sport rights roster.

Meanwhile, the British Olympic Association has confirmed that it will be sending a team of 153 athletes to Baku for the Games, which begin on 12th June.
