BT Sport has agreed a new deal to become the exclusive home of live Ligue 1 Conforama football in the UK and Ireland.
The three-year deal with the French top division also covers rights to France’s Coupe de la Ligue (League Cup).
BT Sport has committed to screen up to five league games each week, alongside a weekly preview and highlights show.
It follows the broadcaster’s decision to relinquish its NBA and UFC rights in line with an increased focus on football and rugby content.
The Ligue 1 Conforama coverage will also help fill a gap in the schedules created by the loss of UK Serie A rights to newcomer Eleven Sports.
BT Sport is promoting its coverage on the back of France’s FIFA World Cup win this summer, with tournament sensation Kylian Mbappé among the stars of his home league.
Andy Haworth, managing director of strategy and content, BT Consumer, commented: “We’re delighted to continue as the home of Ligue 1 Conforama until 2021 and we look forward to bringing our viewers comprehensive coverage of all the action from France, with live matches every weekend on TV and mobile.
“Combined with our lineup of exclusively live matches from the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, Premier League, Emirates FA Cup, SPFL, Betfred Cup, FA WSL and Bundesliga, BT Sport is the best place to be for your football fix across all the major competitions, and using the latest broadcast innovations whether it’s UHD with Dolby Atmos on BT TV or on the BT Sport App.”
