BT Sport has agreed a deal with the FA to acquire the live TV rights in the UK for matches involving England’s development teams, including the under-21s’ Uefa Euro 2015 qualifying campaign.
The four-year deal, which will also see the broadcaster air one game per season featuring the under-17s and under-19s, includes every game from the U21s’ qualifying campaign, beginning with this week’s home fixture against Croatia U21s.
Simon Green, the head of BT Sport, said: ‘We’re delighted to be showing the Young Lions on BT Sport. Youth development is important to the future of our national game and now our viewers will be able to watch the stars of the future in action, exclusively live, on BT Sport.’
England U21 head coach Gareth Southgate commented that the deal will enabled fans ‘to watch some of the country’s most exciting prospects even further down the age groups.’
