Tell us about yourselves…

We are bringing modern personal PR in to sport, offering specialised communications to develop, protect and manage profile in an age where sports stars are the new rock stars. Through a combination of traditional PR, social media management and in house content generation we look to achieve mass market cross over for our clients, building personal brands and helping achieve professional and commercial objectives.

Why do you think you made the shortlist?

Making the shortlist was a huge moment for the company, a real coming of age. We work tirelessly for our clients so to be recognised by our peers for the work we do is a huge accolade.

We opened SoapBox three years ago with no office (just a table in a cafe in Old Street) , no staff, no investment but with a belief and drive that we could build a new entity in sports communications, bringing the world of modern publicity in to sport to help position athletes in modern popular culture – not just in their specific field.

In the 36 months since we opened our doors we have built an unrivalled client roster, from the Heavyweight Champion of the World Anthony Joshua, to Britain’s greatest ever Olympian Bradley Wiggins, Britain’s Tennis Number 1 Kyle Edmund,  to a host of Premier League stars including Marcus Rashford, Wilf Zaha, Troy Deeney, Ryan Sessignon, Michael Antonio, to some of Britain’s most exciting motor racing talent including Billy Monger and Jamie Chadwick whilst also working with brands such as Matchroom Sport, Turkish Airlines and Omega.

We feel our rapid growth comes down to a number of key factors, however we have really embraced the shift in modern communications. We have the experience and knowledge to utilise traditional media, whilst also growing an exceptional social media team. We have also launched an in house content department, creating exclusive social and long form content for clients.

Who has been your MVP?

No one member of the team is more valuable than the other. We really pride ourselves on the team we have built. Sat back in the cafe in Old Street three years ago we never could have dreamt we would have a team of eleven working not just in London but also internationally.

What is nice is not just the family that exist at SoapBox but also how close the team get to the clients, living every kick of a ball or turn of a steering wheel!

How do you plan to celebrate?

Of course we would love to win, it would be the biggest affirmation of the countless hours that go in, not to mention the gamble we took in the first place to start the business.

However we truly are just honoured to be nominated with the other agencies in the category. We know how hard it is to get to this point! Stay hungry, stay humble, right?
