British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) and its headline partner, Deloitte, has unveiled plans for the 2015/16 BUCS Deloitte Leadership Academy (BDLA).
From November, the academy will welcome 500 students to events at six regional locations across the UK, which aims to improve the leadership credentials of men and women who play and work within higher education sport.
The central aim of the academy is for those attending to take the skills learnt and apply them in a sporting capacity at university and onwards into their future careers.
Tom Lewthwaite, partner at Deloitte, said: “Through BDLA, Deloitte is demonstrating its commitment to young talent by developing the leadership potential of almost 500 young students across the country. The desired impact of BDLA is to increase the future employability of the participants whether that be in a boardroom, hospital ward, tech start-up of wherever they may choose to work.”
Adam Priestley, head of sponsorship, British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) added: “I am delighted that we are taking the BDLA on the road this year, so that more students than ever have the opportunity to access such an immersive and hugely rewarding experience.
“Through our partnership with Deloitte, we can draw on their expertise and work in tandem to deliver a sports-focused academy that will both and challenge and inspire.”
