Burger King will partner with Absolute Radio for the station’s exclusive UK radio coverage of the Super Bowl after winning an agency wide competition for complimentary ad inclusion on the show, going out on Sunday 2nd February.

Starcom MediaVest submitted the winning entry to secure a bespoke Burger King Super Bowl ad, to be scripted, recorded and edited in-house at Absolute Radio.

Media agencies and their clients can join Burger King on the roster by applying now for a cut price, all inclusive, two week partnership, including sponsor tags, trails, live reads, an AV competition, bespoke outside broadcast promotion and three day spotlight campaign in the build up to the Super Bowl.

Denver Broncos will face Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl after both teams won their respective championship games on Sunday night.

Denver quarterback Peyton Manning inspired the Broncos to a 26-16 victory against New England Patriots, reaching their first Super Bowl in 15 years.

Seattle came back from 10-0 down to beat San Francisco 49ers 23-17 to get to their second ever Super Bowl.

In September 2013 Absolute Radio secured the commentary rights for American football in a commercial radio first, making digital sister station, Absolute Radio 90s, the brand new home of NFL on UK Radio and broadcast a featured game every Sunday night throughout the season, including special Wembley Stadium fixtures.

Coverage culminates in one of the world’s biggest sporting spectacles, along with its world-famous half-time entertainment show, to be tracked live on both Absolute Radio and Absolute Radio 90s.

Burger King’s advert will receive high frequency placement during the Super Bowl programme, which will kick off from 10pm and continue to follow the action until the game is decided. Regular commentator Darren Fletcher will be in the commentary box with Super Bowl winner Rocky Boiman, both live from the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Starcom MediaVest associate director Duncan Child said: ‘We are delighted to have won this competition. We quickly identified Burger King as a great partner for Absolute Radio’s NFL activity, and brought together expertise from across the agency to build our case. We are looking forward to working together with Absolute Radio’s talented production team to create a great piece of advertising for BK, that we hope will also highlight the creativity within radio as a whole.’

Absolute Radio’s commercial director Simon Kilby added: ‘The Super Bowl is synonymous with a number of things. The global music acts and the infamous half time show, the hotdogs, the beer and of course the adverts.  To celebrate our first season working with NFL we wanted to do something a little different and this competition was our way of saying thank you to our clients who we work so closely with. Burger King certainly fit the bill for this exclusive primetime slot and we’re looking forward to working with others on the campaign.’
