Burnley FC has inked a multi-year, global partnership with Visit Detroit, which becomes the club’s US destination partner.
As per the agreement, the tourism board’s logo will feature as the Clarets’ main shirt sponsor during the team’s US preseason competition in Cary, North Carolina, titled The Soccer Tournament, which will feature 48 clubs, including Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Inter Milan.
Visit Detroit will additionally serve as Burnley’s travel wear partner through the deal, which includes brand visibility and experiences.
Since 2020, Burnley has been owned by US investment group ALK Capital, which acquired an 84% controlling stake in the Lancashire club for a fee believed to be around £170m.
Burnley are the second English football club to partner with a US-based tourism company in recent months. AFC Bournemouth, which is also American-owned, teamed up with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) in February.
Marcus Mellor, Head of Commercial at Burnley, said, “We are delighted to begin this new journey with Visit Detroit in this remarkable partnership.”
“Football transcends geographical boundaries, and I’m pleased that through this collaboration we can strengthen our ties with US communities and fly the Clarets flag stateside as we celebrate the passion for the beautiful game.”
