Jamaican rum brand Captain Morgan has signed T20 and One-Day International cricket captain – and namesake – Eoin Morgan, as its latest brand ambassador.
As part of the sponsorship, Eoin Morgan’s cricket bat will feature the Captain Morgan logo. The makers of Original Spiced Gold have also created a limited edition bottle label featuring Eoin, holding his branded bat, wearing flamboyant buccaneer inspired cricket whites.
In December last year Captain Morgan announced its sponsorship of Leicester City captain Wes Morgan, with the activation going on to win the Best Use of PR Award in association with Getty Images at this year’s BT Sport Industry Awards.
Wes’ contract contained a series of clauses including one which permits him to enter bars and pubs and buy a Captain Morgan & cola for everyone over the age 18 – provided he shouts, “There’s only one Captain Morgan” before ordering. Details are yet to be confirmed if Eoin has any similar clauses.
The announcement came via a Twitter exchange between the three Captains.

Speaking about the partnership, Eoin said: “Captain Morgan clearly strategises long and hard over who it sponsors and I’m bowled over to have made the cut.”
A spokesperson for the brand added: “It’s hard to put a finger on why Eoin is such a good fit for Captain Morgan. Must be his alignment with our values.”
