Coverage of the Limacol Caribbean Premier League will be available to over 200 million people across the world, organisers have revealed, ahead of the T20 competition in Grenada on 11th July.
Big-name broadcasters such as BT Sport (UK), ESPN 3 (North America), Fox Sports (Australia) and Sony Six (India) have all signed deals to carry live coverage of this year’s tournament, featuring cricketing superstars such as Chris Gayle, Kevin Pietersen, Dwayne Bravo, Saeed Ajmal and Kieron Pollard.
Damien O’Donohoe, CEO Limacol Caribbean Premier League, said: ‘We were delighted to have 35 million people tune in to last year’s competition, and we’re confident that this time around we’ll be able to dramatically increase that number, given the presence of some of the world’s most prominent broadcasters.’
‘The CPL is establishing itself as one of the globe’s most exciting sporting competitions and we’re seeing that off the pitch as well as on it.’
Following a sell-out 2013, Grenada will serve as the opening venue on 11th July, when the Guyana Amazon Warriors will take on the Antigua Hawksbills at the National Cricket Stadium.
The inaugural CPL featured six teams competing throughout the region in August 2013 – Jamaica Tallawahs, The Red Steel, Barbados Tridents, Guyana Amazon Warriors, St. Lucia Zouks, Antigua Hawksbills, with the Jamaica Tallawahs, captained by Chris Gayle, emerging as champions.
