Castrol Lubricants has appointed sports marketing agency Wasserman Media Group to procure and manage its 2010 FIFA World Cup ambassador programme.
As part of the partnership WMG will be working on behalf of Castrol Lubricants until December 2010 to negotiate, secure and manage a number of high profile, international ambassadors for both the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2009, and also the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
Most recently, Wasserman have completed the high-profile signing of Cristiano Ronaldo to Castrol, who has become the firm’s Global Ambassador in the run-up to next summer’s tournament, supplementing the oil brand’s official sponsorship of the 2010 World Cup.
Ronaldo is the latest to join a group of select ambassadors Wasserman have secured on behalf of Castrol, who include Alan Shearer, Pierluigi Collina, Emilio Butragueño and Marcel Desailly who will all be supporting Castrol’s sponsorship of both the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2010 FIFA World Cup.
