Castrol has signed up Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger as a brand ambassador to
support the firm’s new position as an official sponsor of UEFA Euro2008.

The global lubricants company plans to use Wegner as its headline ambassador
across a range of Euro2008 marketing activities, including customer & staff
relations; media & PR; and advertising & promotions; to build Castrol’s
credibility in football and help drive an association between Castrol and a
performance platform in football.

He will also play a role in the development and launch of a new performance
index that will contain exclusive data on player’s speed, efficiency and
performance in matches throughout next summer’s European Championships in
Austria and Switzerland, along with fellow Castrol ambassadors Ottmar Hitzfeld
and Emilio Butragueño.

Castrol’s new relationship with football is a significant departure for a
brand that has almost exclusively focused on motor sports and the performance
index will be a crucial part of Castrol’s ambition to act as a catalyst for
insightful analysis during next summer’s UEFA Euro2008 Finals.
