Catapult Sports has announced a partnership with Game Changer Performance (GCP) on a project that will see Catapult’s GPS technology used to monitor the performance of players attending the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) rehabilitation programme at St George’s Park.
The rehabilitation programme has been run from the FA’s base at St George’s Park since 2012 and provides PFA members with access to high-quality medical and sports science resources as they work to overcome injuries. The programme was re-launched by GCP last month and will now use Catapult technology as part of the service it provides to professional players.
The partnership will also see Catapult’s technology used during GCP’s university experience days, events that give students first-hand experience of elite athlete monitoring systems. There are further plans to create a series of workshops where current and aspiring sports performance practitioners can engage with representatives from both companies.
“GCP has been working with Catapult on a number of projects recently and implementing the Catapult system into the work we are doing at St George’s Park was an easy choice to make,” said Jake Keeling, director of GCP. “Not only will the kit be used each day by our team at SGP, there will also be research opportunities that we can jointly work on, and a series of education and applied sport workshops.
“We are really excited to be working with GCP on their latest project,” said Curt Taylor, Catapult’s head of UK and Ireland Sales. “For Catapult, optimising performance, managing injury risk and supporting the return-to-play process are at the heart of what we do. By working with GCP we are pleased to be supporting players going through the PFA’s rehabilitation programme as well as exposing the next generation of players and practitioners to GCP’s experience days and other exciting projects.”
