Champions League Final Peaks At 14.6m

The dramatic Champions League final which saw Manchester United defeat Chelsea in a penalty shootout peaked at 14.6m viewers on ITV1.


The massive audience gave ITV1 the most watched TV moment of the year. Live coverage of the match, which was played in Moscow and beamed around the world, pulled in an average of 11.1m viewers and a 46% share between kick-off at 7.45pm and Manchester United winning the penalty shoot-out at 10.35pm.


The peak rating came in the five minutes from 10.30pm at the dramatic climax to the game, which was tied at 1-1 after normal and extra time.


Overall, ITV1’s Champions League coverage between 7pm and 11.15pm pulled in 9.6m and a 43% share, including pre- and post-match comment and analysis.
