The Chance to Shine cricket charity has announced new commercial deals with Yorkshire Tea and Waitrose, as well as confirming its continued partnership with Marylebone Cricket Club.
The charity is aiming to inspire a further one million young people through cricket by 2020.
Yorkshire Tea will once again be the event partner for Chance to Shine’s National Cricket Week, taking place between 22nd-26th June, when 2,000 schools across the country will celebrate a week of cricketing activities in schools and communities with brews supplied by Yorkshire Tea.
Kevin Sinfield, Yorkshire Tea marketing manager said: “We are very much looking forward to supporting Chance to Shine for a second successive year and building upon the huge success we have already achieved through the partnership. We’re especially excited about unveiling our plans around Yorkshire Tea National Cricket Week, as having supported grassroots cricket for many years, it’s very close to our hearts.”
As part of its deal, Waitrose will provide mascot opportunities at England internationals this summer for young people involved in the Chance to Shine Schools programme. They will also be the event partner for both a 2005 Ashes Team Reunion event for Chance to Shine on 14th July and the charity’s flagship fundraising dinner, ‘Chance to Dine’, at Lord’s on 16th September.
Jeremy Hall, Waitrose marketing manager – events & sponsorship added: “We are delighted to partner with Chance to Shine. We are passionate about developing cricket across the country at all levels and inspiring children to love cricket is a key part of that. We can’t wait to bring the 2005 team back together in July and see what the England players can cook up at Chance to Dine.”
The partnership with Marylebone Cricket Club will continue into its sixth year and will once again focus on promoting the Spirit of Cricket in Chance to Shine schools. It will include a new schools’ assembly resource, reward stickers for pupils showing good sportsmanship in PE and a return of the replica silver Ashes urns for school competitions to coincide with the Investec Ashes this summer.
Claire Hall, corporate & events manager at Chance to Shine, concluded: “Chance to Shine costs £5 million a year to run so commercial partnerships are absolutely vital for the charity. Yorkshire Tea, Waitrose and the MCC share our passion to spread the power of cricket and we are excited about working with them this year.”
The charity is currently seeking headline sponsors for both its Chance to Shine Schools and Street programmes.
