Chang Beer UK has appointed Joanne O’Connell as sponsorship activation manager, to continue to drive the company’s sponsorship of Barclays Premier League team, Everton FC. The move comes as the brand celebrates a landmark success as the longest standing football club sponsor in the division.
As the brand goes into its sixth season as the main sponsor of Everton FC, O’Connell (pictured, left) will be responsible for managing the image, equity and execution of Chang Beer within Goodison Park, Merseyside and the surrounding area.
The first member of staff to assume this role, a new post has been created for Joanne. With a keen interest in football, O’Connell will be responsible for managing and driving the marketing partnership with the club, players and staff, as well as supporting local media partners and restaurant partnerships to capitalise on opportunities to grow presence of the premium Thai lager brand.
Joanne joins Chang Beer from Cancer Research UK where she was the national marketing manager for Race for Life, and has previously worked with Sports Marketing Agency, GO Sports Entertainment, and nine years at Reebok UK, which have allowed her to build up over 18 years experience in the field of sports and brand marketing.
Geoff Tirrell, managing director of Chang Beer UK, commented: ‘We’re very pleased to be welcoming Joanne to the team. Not only does she come with a wealth of experience, but she’s also a football and sport enthusiast and so there really isn’t anyone better for the role. Our success as the Everton FC sponsor to date has been fantastic and we’re confident that Joanne will help us drive this forward and deliver some brilliant results for the brand.’
Joanne O’Connell, added: ‘I’m really excited about this opportunity. Chang Beer and Everton FC have great brand synergy and I can’t wait to help develop this further in my new role.’
