The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and the British Tennis Foundation (BTF) have
announced the formation of a new single charitable body dedicated to community
tennis in the UK.

The Tennis Foundation will become the main organisation tasked with
supporting and promoting community tennis and will operate primarily through the
central resources and county network of the LTA.

The main areas of responsibility will be increasing and sustaining
participation in tennis across all age groups and abilities, devising a new
strategy for parks and schools and working to leverage greater public and
private investment into the community game.

The new Tennis Foundation will be chaired by Jonathan Lane, chief executive
of Shaftesbury, with Sir Geoffrey Cass taking on the role of president.

The transition to the new Tennis Foundation will take place over the coming
months and an open recruitment process has begun for an executive director who
will report to the chairman, Jonathan Lane.
