British Cycling has agreed a landmark partnership with Forestry England which has expanded access to the nation’s forests for cycling communities across England.

The collaboration has aimed to support and grow participation through grassroots cycling programmes and community coaching.

The agreement has utilised Forestry England sites to support and enable thousands more people to take to the saddle, largely via inclusive and accessible participation programmes such as Breeze in the Forest, an established programme aimed at encouraging women to ride in safe, traffic-free environments in nature.

The agreement will see Limitless, British Cycling’s leading disability and para cycling programme, expand into the forests for the first time with a first-year programme starting during 2025 to support more riders with a disability to take part in off-road cycling and mountain biking in Forestry England sites across England.

Through the partnership, there have been enhanced opportunities in the nation’s forests to support cyclists of all ages and abilities, from entry level coaching for children and young people, to new off-road cycling education courses, events, and support for British Cycling’s talent pathway, which will utilise the nation’s forests to deliver talent and Great Britain Cycling Team coaching.

Amy Gardner, Sport and Participation Director, British Cycling, said, “Partnering with Forestry England opens so many opportunities for both organisations.

“The enhancement of cycling participation projects through utilising forest sites across England, including the introduction of new initiatives, will open the forests to more children and young people, more disabled people, and more people from underserved communities.”

The Lloyds Tour of Britain has appointed OS Maps, part of Great Britain’s national mapping service Ordnance Survey, as its official digital mapping partner.

The partnership covers both the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women, which got underway on 5th June, and the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men, scheduled for 2nd to 7th September.

As part of the agreement, OS Maps is providing special printed spectator maps for each stage of the races. These maps include important race details, suggested spectator points of interest, and links to recommended routes for fans.

Additionally, every stage winner at both the Women’s race in June and the Men’s race in September will receive a framed presentation map of that stage route during the podium ceremony.

The Lloyds Tour of Britain Women race concludes in Glasgow on 8th June.

Darren Henry, Chief Commercial Officer, British Cycling, said, “We look forward to working with the team at OS Maps through the partnership to deepen our engagement with fans coming to the races, and provide them with more information about the stage routes, the ways that they can make the most of their day spectating, and suggested rides in and around our venues.”
