Paddy Power has confirmed a three-year extension to its sponsorship deal with Cheltenham Racecourse, with the Irish bookmaker also taking title sponsorship of the second day of The Open Meeting at Cheltenham, to be known as The Paddy Power Open Saturday.
The three-day meeting, which takes place from 15th to 17th November, will feature the paddypower.com Handicap Chase, and the feature race on the Saturday, the Grade Three Paddy Power Gold Cup.
The Open Meeting at Cheltenham, which Paddy Power first partnered in 2003, will offer a total prize fund of £743,000 in 2013, with the winner of the Grade Three Paddy Power Gold Cup claiming £160,000.
Meanwhile, civil engineering and utilities company Murphy Group will sponsor the Grade Three handicap chase on the Saturday, worth £50,000.
Sophia Brudenell, the communications manager for Cheltenham Racecourse, commented on the deals: ‘The Open is very much positioned as the premier race meeting pre-Christmas, with around 70,000 race goers enjoying three unique days of top-class racing.’
‘It is great news that both Paddy Power and Murphy Group have renewed their sponsorship at Cheltenham.’
The announcement comes off the back of a number of new deals from Paddy Power, who renewed its deal with Manchester City yesterday, as well as offering its backing to the Stonewall ‘Rainbow laces’ campaign.
