Dereck Chisora and David Haye could face lifetime bans from boxing for their part in the infamous brawl in Munich at the weekend, according to British Boxing Board of Control General Secretary, Robert Smith.
The British boxers clashed during the post-fight press conference following Chisora’s defeat by defending WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko.
Chisora and his trainer Don Charles had been arrested at the city’s airport following the scrap late on Saturday night, and German police are now believed to want to question Haye – after releasing Chisora without charge.
The scenes unfolded after Haye showed up at the news conference to confront Klitschko, who he believes changed his mind on a potential fight between the pair.
A verbal exchange with Chisora ensued, who accused Haye of glassing him, before saying several times that he would “shoot” the former WBA heavyweight champion.
Smith confirmed Chisora will face a disciplinary hearing, while Haye – who has retired from the sport – could be banned by the board should he ever seek to fight again.
