Chris Evans Launches Runfestrun
Virgin Radio DJ Chris Evans have confirmed the launch of RunFestRun, a new running and music festival set to take place from 31st May until 2nd June.
The Virgin Radio-endorsed event, billed as ‘Britain’s biggest running party,’ follows on from the success of CarFest, which has expanded since its introduction in 2012.
The grounds of Wiltshire’s Georgian Bowood House and Gardens, home to Marquis and Marchioness of Lansdowne, will play host to the three-day running-inspired festival.
Running routes will range from an immersive 2.5km fun run, through to a timed half marathon within the 100 acre ‘Capability’ Brown parkland.
Evans, a regular competitor at the Virgin Money London Marathon, said: “It’s been so fantastic and exciting to be back on Virgin Radio and part of that joy has been launching RunFestRun.”
Evans departed BBC Radio 2 and rejoined Virgin Radio after 20 years away from the station last autumn, beginning his new role in January 2019.
“We want people to join us for a jam-packed weekend of running while having a great time outdoors with friends and family. Whether it is your first run or your hundredth, grab your trainers and join us for the nation’s big, new running party,” Evans added.
Marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe and fellow British running icon Steve Cram have already been confirmed to attend the festival.
Commenting on the event, Cram said: “RunFestRun is a great opportunity for family and friends to come and enjoy running in the most stunning of settings.
“With something for the whole family, whether you’re an active runner or just an enthusiastic supporter, we can’t wait to welcome everyone to this weekend of fun, achievement and bucket loads of laughs.”
As part of the inaugural event, which will also host fitness and wellness classes, Virgin Radio Sport Presenter Vassos Alexander is to host inspirational talks with sporting legends and renowned endurance runners throughout the event.
The full line-up for RunFestRun is to follow in the near future, including an announcment of the well-known bands and DJs that will accompany the event.
