F1 fans could soon be able to watch races in their local cinema after it emerged that the Odeon chain is looking to broadcast live coverage of this season’s Grands Prix.
Carlton Screen Advertising, the UK’s largest cinema sales house, has been briefed to find a sponsor to fund the initiative and estimates the screenings will attract 35,000 racing fans.
The races will be shown at 30 Odeon cinemas across the country until the end of the F1 season on 2nd November, covering 12 races.
The broadcast is being shot exclusively for the cinema screenings in high definition and will be shown without ads or interruptions.
The sponsorship package will include 13-minutes screen time before each race as well as foyer promotions and sampling on the days of the races while the initiative will also be supported by a marketing campaign.
