ITV1’s live coverage of the rollercoaster UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash between Chelsea and Liverpool which ended 4-4 peaked at 9.5m viewers.


The terrestrial channel’s live broadcast of the quarter-final second leg tie, which saw Chelsea qualify for the semi-final winning 7-5 on aggregate, attracted an average of 8.2 m viewers and a 34% share over two hours from its 7.45pm kick-off time.


ITV1’s audience peaked for the 15 minutes from 9.15pm during the second half, as Liverpool staged an unlikely comeback to take a late 4-3 lead, according to unofficial overnight figures.


Full match coverage between 7.30pm and 10pm picked up 7.4m viewers and a 31% share.
