The England and Wales Cricket Board has confirmed that incumbent chairman Giles Clarke has been elected to stand for a second term of office.
Clarke ran for the post unopposed after Lord Marland withdrew his nomination last week after being unable to gain the support of enough of the constituent counties.
At the time of Lord Marland’s withdrawal from the nomination process, 16 votes had been cast and Giles Clarke was ahead 14-2.
Clarke stated: ‘I would like to thank Lord Marland, who is after all a very experienced election campaigner, and also all the counties that voted for me.
‘I believe that the overriding message from this election is that there is no division of purpose within first-class cricket in England and Wales.
‘Indeed, this election has demonstrated quite categorically that, if anything, cricket is more agreed on a common direction that at any time in the last few years.’
The next term of office for the ECB chairman runs until 31st March 2011.
