Clydesdale Bank has announced that it has renewed its contract with England One Day International cricket captain Alastair Cook until 2017.

The 27-year-old will support Clydesdale Bank’s community programme by hosting junior cricket coaching sessions and will help raise awareness of their partnership with Help for Hospices.

The Bank will continue to sponsor Cook’s Gray Nicholls bat, and weekly column in The Metro newspaper during the current cricket season.

Cook will also perform an integral role in promoting the Bank’s new ‘Howzat!’ campaign, which focuses on engaging cricket communities and wider sports fans.

Alastair Cook, Essex and England cricketer, said: ‘I am delighted to be able to continue my relationship with Clydesdale Bank and support their excellent work promoting cricket in local communities across the UK.’

‘I am looking forward to being part of this year’s ‘Howzat!’ campaign, which rewards fans for their commitment to cricket.’

Caroline Darnbrook, Head of Customer Insight and Brand Products and Marketing at Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks, added: ‘We are thrilled that Alastair has signed with the Bank for another five years. He is one of the leading players in the world and a great role model for youngsters all over the country.’

Clydesdale Bank supports English cricket through its sponsorship of the Clydesdale Bank 40, and their partnerships with England ODI captain, Alastair Cook, England’s most-capped cricketer, Alec Stewart, and Durham all-rounder, Paul Collingwood.
