Coca-Cola has joined the mounting roster of Rugby World Cup sponsors, using its
Powerade sports drink brand to take up an official supplier deal at this year’s
tournament.

The deal with the International Rugby Board will see Powerade supplied to all
20 participating teams at the World Cup which kicks off in France on 7th
September.

The new contract builds on Powerade’s links with the sport – the energy drink
already has similar supplier deals with the national teams of Australia,
England, Ireland, New Zealand and Wales.

The Rugby World Cup 2007 commercial programme now incorporates six worldwide
partners: Visa International, EDF, Peugeot, GMF, Société Générale and SNCF; six
official sponsors – Heineken, Vediorbis, Capgemini, Orange, Toshiba and
Emirates; and three official suppliers – Gilbert, adidas and now Coca-Cola.
