Coca-Cola has teamed up with national youth charity StreetGames to bring together more than 50 young aspiring footballers to play alongside former professionals at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge stadium.

The day included a training session led by ex-Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and a full-pitch men’s and women’s game, which featured Jermaine Jenas and Fara Williams also taking part.

The event formed part of Coca-Cola and the Premier League’s Where Everyone Plays campaign, which celebrates the league’s diversity.

The event was held to mark the 10-year partnership between Coca-Cola and StreetGames, which to date has provided sporting experiences to over 385,000 young people. Coca-Cola will also launch a campaign this summer to help give more people access to football coaches and pitches as part of its sponsorship of the Premier League, which began last September.

Commenting on the day, broadcast pundit and former-Premier League star, Jermaine Jenas said: “It’s been so inspiring to lace up my boots and play with these talented young footballers. StreetGames does amazing work to help young people who love sport to find the support they need and today, Coca-Cola has created an amazing opportunity to experience what it’s like playing on a Premier League pitch. It is what inspired me to play as a youngster and you can feel the energy and excitement it’s given everyone today.”

Mark Lawrie, Deputy CEO at StreetGames, commented: “Coca-Cola has been a huge supporter of our mission to create positive change to the lives of disadvantaged people through sport. For anyone who loves football, it is a dream opportunity to play at a Premier League stadium. Today has shown the power that inspiring people and places can have in broadening ambitions and helping to transform lives.”

Kris Robbens, Marketing Director at Coca-Cola Great Britain and Ireland, said: “To celebrate our partnership with StreetGames and the Premier League, today was a one-of-a-kind matchday experience for StreetGames players and was a great opportunity to bring to life our Where Everyone Plays campaign, which celebrates everyone who takes part in making the Premier League truly magical and bring the footballing community closer to all the action.”
